The "Silver Package" radio kit is our entry level package for your SpecMiata. The Silver package consists of the following:
Driver Radio:
- Vertex VX-231 5 Watt Radio - Programmable to your race teams needs.
- Desktop Rapid Chargers.
- Complete Car Harness
- In-Car Radio Mounting Box
- Push-to-Talk button.
- Helmet Kit w/Noise Canceling Flex Boom Microphone.
- Molded "Y" Block
- Foam Tip Transducer Ear Buds
- Roof Mount Antenna (not shown in picture)
- Large Storage Case
Crew Radio:
- Vertex VX-231 5 Watt Radio - Same as the driver - Programmable to your race teams needs.
- Behind-The-Head Headset with Scanner Jack, Dual Muff with washable cotton cloth covers, PTT in ear cup, Noise canceling Boom Microphone and detachable coil cord.
The crew headset with this package has the scanner jack in the headset which is a must have feature! As a crew member you can plug in your scanner to monitor race operations in one ear and have your driver communication in the other ear. If you are on the radio with a driver and not monitoring the race operations channel with a scanner, you are missing a lot of good information such as:
- Yellow flag locations on corners you can not see
- The halfway point of the race
- When the track will go "Green" again under a FCY condition.
Without the scanner jack you would have to pull off one of the ear muff speakers to hold up a scanner directly to your ear.
