1990 - 1997 Cage

Notice the curve to the windshield bar and the roof diagonal.  These bends get the cage up nice and tight to the body of the car to ensure maximum room inside the car.

The rear landing plates tie in the rocker panel, floor and rear package tray to stiffen the car and to tie in the most structural componets of the car.  Mounting to the floor or even the upper package tray only is not good enough in the event of a roll over accident.

The V4 rounded front landing perch ties into the rocker panel and is out of the footwell.  Mounting it to the rocker gets it as far away from the drivers ankle, giving the drivers as much room as possible in the footwell.  The stock dead pedal can be re-installed in the car without any modifications.

* - 2 additional tubes, and 2 plates are now standard with the kit that tie the front door bars to the firewall.

Here is another view of the footwell and how the landing plate does not get in the drivers way.

Here is a view of the door frame bar.  As you can see it mounts behind the dash giving the driver as much room as possible for entry and exit.  Other cages drop the door frame bars down in front of the dash which requires the driver to bring his legs and feet back another 6" inches to exit the vehicle.  By locating the door frame bars behind the dash this allows us to install a concealed dash bar (see pic below) behind the dash. Installing the door frame bars behind the dash also allows for the dash to be removed in one piece for maintenance.  Try getting the dash out of a car with door bars that land in front of the dash!

Notice the location of the dash bar.  When the guage cluster is installed the dash bar is completely concealed.  This is important because the dash bar is no where near the drivers knees and can not harm the driver in an accident.  The stock dash bar is still intact inside the dash, but that bar is actually 2 bars of very thin wall pipe that will not provide any safety feature in the event of an accident.  The dash bar fits into the location for the duct work for the front facing vents.  Once the dash bar is installed it will not interfere with your defroster vents at all.

The 2 pictures below show a center mount drivers net installed to this dash bar.

How many other cage kits on the market offer a dash bar?

Based on the location of the dash bar in the above picture, it allows for you to install a center mount drivers net at the correct angle and to an integral part of the roll cage structure.  These drivers nets have proven to be instrumental in keeping the drivers head and upper torso from moving to far towards the passenger side of the car in side impact accidents.

This is another great reason for installing a dash  bar in your race car.

Here is one additional picture of the center mount drivers net installed to the dash bar.  You can see that the net does not obstruct the drivers view in any way.

Here is a picture showing the location of the door frame bar and its proximity to the roof line.  The door had to be opened to take this picture so it could be seen since the door frame bar is tucked up so close to the roof.  Every little bit of room counts especially for taller drivers.

Here is a picture of the door frame bars and roof line without the top.  We squeezed every possible amount of space out of the car with this kit.  Since we are using a NC Bender the accuracy of the bends in the kit are right on every time.

Notice the angle of the rear down tube.  They land back in the trunk next to the shock mounting point to help stiffen the car.

* - Additional bars are available to X brace the rear down tubes if so desired.  Please call for details, or select the X brace product under the roll cage category of products.

In this picture you can see that the rear down tubes land right next to the shock mounting points right between 2 pins the factory used to weld the body to the frame.

* - Additional bars are available to X brace the rear down tubes if so desired.  Please call for details, or select the X brace product under the roll cage category of products.

Here is a shot of the Nascar bars.  The bars angle downward and come all the way out to the doorskin of the car and angle in and down just in front of the stock anti-intrusion bar.  The downward angle helps in getting in and out of the car in a hurry.  You can also see the the highest point of the upper rear down tube is just below the shoulder wings on the Kirkey Road Race Seat giving the driver as much protection as possible without sacrificing comfort or potential injury do to poorly placed bars.

Here you can see the passenger side door frame bars.

These bars were designed with downward angle like the Drivers side for ease of entry and exit for those days you take an instructor or mechanic around the track.  These bars also comply with the recent SCCA requirement for 2 bars on the passenger side.

Effective 10/1/05 SCCA has approved the use of Nascar style bars on the passenger side of the car.  Our kit now includes those bars at no additional charge.  We believe the Nascar style bars on the passenger side of the car to be a competitive advantage due to the weight savings after gutting the door.  Removing the glass from the door is also a safety advantage as the glass can explode into the drivers compartment if hit in the passenger door.

Here is a better view of the passenger side Nascar bars.

Here you can see the firewall tube on the passenger side of the car.  These tubes are included in the kit.
